Turn up for tailgate

tailgateThis is the first year every single grade, freshmen to seniors, is able to be a part of the tailgate. Tailgaters meet together before every game to eat and paint up before going to cheer on our Patriots in the tailgating section. Tailgating events are coordinated by seniors Lexi Broadwater and Sky Ingram.

Broadwater says that the tailgate consists of a majority of “lit” upperclassmen at Sandy Creek who sit together in the student section for sports events. The $25 dues that all tailgaters have to pay covers shirts, food, and supplies for tailgate such as the paint, flags, spirit gear and more. Broadwater also says that “our tailgate is ‘fye’ and we support our football team all the way to the dome!” Her favorite part of tailgating is the energy the tailgaters create and coming to support her friends on the field.

The tailgating group is a big part of the support our athletes get from our student body. Star player, senior Korey Banks, says, “The tailgate is definitely one reason why I look forward to Friday nights. They are constantly involved in the game whether if we are winning or losing. I can tell they look forward to Friday nights. I love our tailgate keep it up!”

You can see the tailgate team in action on game night as they show their team spirit and Patriot pride!
