Half Time Show of 2015

“The Best of Times” is coming with this year’s SCHS Marching Band Show. It is centered around an early 1980s retro theme both musically and stylistically.

All 75 members of the band and colorguard have worked hard throughout the summer. The band director, Mr. Gunter, expects the show to be entertaining and of high quality. On that same note, senior Sam Regi, who is this years Drum Major, feels confident in the band’s performances. To kick off the year, the first performance is August 21st at the annual Corky Kell Classic game against Creekview at McEachern High School.

Mr. Gunter designed the show after one he had done in 1999.  It is a fun show with lots of hits from the 1980s. Additionally, Mrs. Brooke Ganci says there is a surprise for the audience during one of the songs. She got inspiration for the costumes from performers such as Joan Jett and Mondo.

Preparation for this excellent show started on June 6 with Saturday practices for the colorguard. Band camp took place the two weeks preceding the start of school. Now that school has started, the colorguard practices four evenings each week while the band practices three . On top of that, members with leadership roles such as Regi have extra practice at home in order to help the band achieve success.

Mrs. Brooke Ganci, the Marching Band Colorguard coach, expressed, “I am confident about it being fun and it will be a year to remember”.

Patriot fans attending football games will see an entertaining show deserving of the name, “The Best of Times”.
