Mr. Gunter takes final bow at SC

Brian Gunter, the band director here at Sandy Creek for the past nine years, is teaching his final days at Sandy Creek. His next few years of band directing will be spent in his hometown, Griffin, at Spalding High School.

Of course, he will miss being a Patriot: “I love the sense of community among the students and teachers, and I will greatly miss directing the band here. They’ve improved so much over the last nine years.”

Many students here have grown close to the easy going band director, but wish him the best. His players in the marching band are especially showing love to Gunter. “I will definitely miss his gentle teaching; so many of the teachers here work you so much.” says color guard member Yalisa Sanchez.

Marching band here at Sandy Creek has been one of the highlights of Mr. Gunter’s teaching career. He stated the playing in the Georgia Dome was one of his favorite memories.

Mr. Gunter will be greatly missed and remembered by his family here at Sandy Creek High School. As for the new director coming in to take his place, he gives them the advice to “keep calm and carry on!”
