Chick-fil-A Leader Academy is a national high school leadership program created to help shape the future of tomorrow by helping students understand the real-world. Chick-fil-A Leader believes teamwork, critical thinking, and cooperation are keys to success in life.
This is the 2nd year Sandy Creek students have had a chapter and participated in community service events. Last December the students participated in their first fundraiser of the year. After holding a drive at the school, the chapter donated toiletries and clothing to the Real Life Center, who showed their appreciation through a thank you note to the school.
The students are now working to plan a final project for their year. Deliberations are now underway and ideas have been narrowed to two: a prom/homecoming or a movie night for either elderly residents of Dogwood Senior Home or for children who are battling cancer. Once the students decide on a project, the group can apply for a grant through Chick-Fil-A to fund the project.
Damarus Boone, a member of the academy, said, “These projects are great for community, and the final project will be a big hit and make everyone happy.”
